Description:
Here is page five of an eight-page article by William D. Gorman entitled "Steam From Altoona." It was published originally in the December 1963 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 28. Top Illustration: Depicted here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1063, a Class P (4-4-0) "American" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during September of 1883, later reclassified as a D-11A, and retired in November of 1905. Bottom Photo: Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #700, an E-1 (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata during June of 1899, sold to the Long Island Rail Road in December of 1903, and retired in 1911.
