Photo Caption: "Class H Consolidation engine on way-freight near East Liberty, Pa., April, 1948." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7784, an H-8SA (2-8-0) built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an H-8A during July of 1910, rebuilt in Juniata as an H-8SA in October of 1918, and retired in June of 1948 after 38 years of faithful service. This photo comes from a slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (22-18). |
