PRR 5797, EP-22, 1959 |
Description: |
Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 20 May 1959. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5797, an EP-22 built by GM-EMD in June of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. It looks to me like it's just been repainted. Partially visible in the left background are portions of Juniata's 17th Street Bridge and the East Altoona Roundhouse. Produced and distributed by Charly's Slides. |

PRR 5797, EP-22, c. 1964 |
Description: |
Lorenz. Here is a photo via Bob Lorenz that was taken at the Passenger Station in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, c. 1964. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5797, an EP-22 built by GM-EMD in June of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. For some reason, it seems to be coupled with at least two electrified passenger cars. Note the large blocks of ice at the far left of the photo; they'll soon provide the "air conditioning" for some contemporary passenger cars. (Gift from Brad Mann.) |
