LIRR 255 and an FA |
Description: |
Some of the crews did not like running from the FA cab units, and where they had a chance, would wye the GP 38s and use them as leaders. Heres one such example at Mineola. |

Parlor car |
Description: |
The LIRR still ran a number of parlor cars in the 80s. These were noted by their red stripe, vs blue on all other cars. Most ran on the Montauk Branch-there was an all parlor train on weekends-but there were also a couple that ran as subscription cars on the Port Jeff and Oyster Bay lines. This one is trailing 255 on an Oyster Bay train. |

Not too many beachgoers today |
Description: |
There are not likely too many beachgoers today on east end train 4012 due to the cloudy weather. It still has its full complement of coaches and parlors to take the weekenders back to New York tomorrow morning on its return. |

October east enders |
Description: |
The summer schedule of parlor equipped trains lasted well into the fall, usually til late October. We see a swelled consist behind the usual pair of GP 38s on this first weekend of October. A Hempstead train is coming up track 4 in the distance, and will make the stop here at Bellerose. |
