Album Info:Photos taken at Bellerose NY on the LIRR. I was the organist for the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Jamaica for several years. After church on Sunday, I'd usually spend an hour or so at Bellerose, since there were a group of diesel trains that ran mid day, as well as the occasional freight. I went other times as well, as it was a good spot to see Main Line action at the east end of Queens interlocking, and the lighting was good most of the day.

MUs in the snow
Title:  MUs in the snow
Description:  We didnt get a lot of snow on the Island due to proximity to the ocean, which tended to keep the temperatures a little more moderate than inland. Thus, it was not all that common to get snow shots. That winter we had a few storms, which yielded this shot of a Huntington train approaching Bellerose in a snowy scene.

Power pack on 4012
Title:  Power pack on 4012
Description:  Train 4012 in the summer had the duty of taking parlor cars back to the east end after servicing in Jamaica, and was usually a lengthy train, even by LIRR standards. It ususally got an MP 15 power pack rather than an FA. Today is true to form, as 168 bings up the rear.

Back to back
Title:  Back to back
Description:  The LIRR ran most of its trains with a single unit as they were not heavy enough to need more than that. Some of the Montauk trains were exceptions, such as this weekend only 4012. The Sunday train was sometimes 14 or 15 cars, since it was used to return parlors to the east end for the New York bound trains starting in on Sunday afternoon. Here we see it with a pair of GP 38s rolling out of Queens interlocking
