NS Warehouse B Fire
Title:  NS Warehouse B Fire
Description:  Looking north along St. Louis Street towards North Claiborne Avenue and I-10. NS Warehouse B is on fire, and warehouse C is beyond that. These were two of at least eight freight houses built here around 1910 by the New Orleans Terminal Co. Two of the city's famous landmarks, St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 and the Iberville Housing Project, are on the left. I-10 is the bridge visible through the smoke and NS Warehouse C is hidden by the smoke.

NS Warehouses
Title:  NS Warehouses
Description:  In this view looking south across North Claiborne Avenue and under I-10, NS warehouse C is on the right. Warehouse B is on fire, and on the other side of this would have been Warehouse A. These had been some of the Southern Railway's inbound freight houses. To the left of these were outbound freight houses H, G and F. Warehouse H was next to C, and is gone; but G is visible in the center distance. The steeple of St. Louis Cathedral can be seen in the background. Additional information according to the 1940 Sanborn map revealed: moving left from St. Louis Street, you had Inbound Freight Houses A-C, 5-6 tracks, Outbound Freight Houses F-H, and 3-4 more tracks. Over on the extreme left would have been the two main tracks into Terminal Station on Basin Street and a third track. The track arrangement here changed and shrank several times between the closure of Terminal Station in 1954 and the complete removal of all track, which likely took place shortly before these photos were taken. Major changes were the construction of the current street connection between Orleans Ave. and Basin Street, and the construction of parking for the Municipal Auditorium.

Galvez. The code book shows Brick Unlimited, Inc. on the left at Galvez. The only other location idetified between Claiborne and Broad is the Broad Street Team Track.

GM&O 50
Title:  GM&O 50
Description:  At this time, GM&O 50 was owned by HARD ROCK CAFE co-founder and HOUSE OF BLUES founder Isaac Tigrett. When he was in New Orleans developing the HOUSE OF BLUES here, he usually stayed on this car at NOUPT. Eventually, he decided to keep the car in New Orleans and leased this siding from the NOPB. The location next to the French Quarter made it convenient for him to get to work and for entertaining guests. The car had been regularly used by Tigrett's grandfather Ike when he was president of the GM&N and then the GM&O.
