Looking West at Randolph |
Description: |
Looking west across the High Street grade crossing in Randolph, WI. Randolph has a fairly long siding, with a grain elevator located on it. The line is former Milwaukee Road territory and runs from Horicon to Cambria as a part of the WSOR. Just west of Randolph, the line passes under the former Chicago and Northwestern Adams line. The CNW bridge over the tracks can be seen at the rails horizon in this photo. The Adams line is now part of the Union Pacific. |

Covered hoppers and boxcars on the WSOR siding in Randolph. This line is the Milwaukee Road's "old line" to La Crosse, WI. The line went from Milwaukee to La Crosse via Horicon and Cambria to Portage and on to La Crosse. The line that became the favorable route went from Milwaukee through Watertown to Portage and on to La Crosse. For the Milwaukee it became a secondary line, and now with the WSOR, the line truncates at the Del Monte plant entrance in Cambria. |

Beaver Dam Switching |
Description: |
After leaving part of the train in the clear, west of N. Center Street, the Cmbria sub job switches the industrial park in Beaver Dam. The railbox car is on a spur leading to some businesses also. There are two spurs leading off the branch main at this park. There are quite a few customers here. The Milwaukee Road used to run into downtown Beaver Dam and do switching along a return loop of track. The traces of the right of way for the loop are still visible, though the rails have been torn up. This park is located closer to the main of the branch and is the new center of manufacturing, as the downtown district is being redeveloped from industry. |

Description: |
Some empty GACX hoppers waiting for their turn to the WATCO terminal facility to be loaded in Oshkosh. The cars sit on a siding along some old building foundations that may have been part of any of numerous business activities historically located here. Fisk, once known as Fisk's Corners, had a station, post office, general store, blacksmith, implement store and a grain elevator. Livestock and farm produce were shipped from here on the Milwaukee Road. The old 1910 built bridge across Eight Mile Creek is visible just beyond the turnout. This bridge was replaced in July/August of 1016. Eight Mile Creek has also been known as Fisk's Creek, however, Eight Mile Creek seems to be the official name as it is the one used in modern maps. |

WATCO (present owner of the WSOR) was able to use some state funding to improve bridges. The ELS was also a recipient of some of this funding. The trestle provides access through the right of way's fill between fields for a farm. |

Sand Loading Facility |
Description: |
Between Utley and Markesan in the Town of Mackford, located at the County Trunk S grade crossing is this siding. In the recent past of when this photo was taken, it was a very busy sand load out facility, with sand tucked in and trans-loaded to the awaiting covered hoppers via conveyors. The place was a beehive of activity and had enough "No Trespassing" signs to make one think some sort of secret government project was going on. The siding is now in use holding boxcars in storage. These will most likely end up at the Del Monte plant in Markesan. |

Description: |
As seen from the south side of the WSOR yard facility in Horicon, WAMX 3894 works the north part of the yard on the wye. The tracks in the foreground lead to the newer west yard and go beyond to Beaver Dam, Fox Lake Junction, Randolph and Cambria. The tracks now end in Cambria, but, used to continue on to Portage. |

Plymouth Station |
Description: |
The former Milwaukee Road station in Plymouth is looking good under the WSOR (WATCO). The line has become more active under the WSOR, making Plymouth become an operating junction once again. The WSOR reactivated the former CNW line to Sheboygan Falls to serve a number of businesses that wanted rail service, including a Bemis facility in Sheboygan Falls. |

Description: |
Working to Oshkosh out of Horicon, a WSOR train works the United Co-op facility in Pickett. The United Co-op has an agronomy center in Pickett that is a fairly busy rail customer. Note the newer paint scheme on the front of the unit. I think I prefer the smaller chevron stripes rather than the wide chevron. |

Description: |
A pair of box cars in front of a Seneca dock on the west side of Douglas Street. Typically, cars are loaded at the canning plant out of the picture to the rear of the camera. It is unknown if theses cars were unloaded or unloaded here, or just waiting to be spotted in the plant. This part of Seneca is where on will see a lot of their field equipment. Looking down this former C&NW track leads to the WSOR former Milwaukee Road line between Horicon and Oshkosh. |
