Title:  B&O 2-8-0 #3138 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:  This E-60 class Consolidation built sometime between 1904-08 sits inside the B&O roundhouse. The note left by the unknown photographer reads "A B&O Consolidation rests in the roundhouse. She's no. 3138. #3584, a B&O 2-8-2 rests behind 3138. She's getting an overhaul." Description:  This massive 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone type locomotive was built by Baldwin in 1944. Title:  Baltimore & Ohio RR 0-8-0 #1704, ex#799
Description:  Conflicting information on this one. Slightly different than its sister #1515 in this album, #1704 appears either to have been built by the B&O as a class L-3 #799 or a rebuilt unit from a 2-8-0 #1970.

Title:  Baltimore & Ohio 0-8-0 #849
Description:  Another L-1 (or L-1a) class switcher sits patiently with a clean shine on most of its surface, obviously well cared. Date on the front just lists it as 1957. Other B&O 0-8-0 have scrapped by this time so it's probably on borrowed time.

Title:  Baltimore & Ohio 4-8-2 #727, ex-#5586

The B&O rebuilt it in 1925 to class Q-1aa and equipped it with 26X32 cylinders, rebuilt it again in 1947 to #5586, a 4-8-2 type, class T-3c, equipped with 27X32 cylinders, 70" drivers, developed 230 psi, with an engine weight of 375,000 lb and an overall engine+tender wheelbase of 88.10'. It was renumbered to 727 in 1956 and dropped from the roster in 1960. This is a Max Miller photo.

Title:  Baltimore & Ohio 2-10-2 #61XX
Description:  The photographer did type some info on this photo but not the loco's number. I couldn't sharpen it enough to read it either. The info also creates a problem - most sources list the last S-1/S-1a being scrapped by 1959. If the date is correct on this photo, at least one lasted into the early 1960's still in revenue service. Can't help but enjoy the plume of trailing smoke! Unknown photographer

BO 2-8-2 #4559
Title:  BO 2-8-2 #4559
Description:  Thanks to Chuck Zeiler for correctly identifying this renumbered and relabeled locomotive at the Huntington Heritage Museum. Originally built for Toledo Angola & Western as their #100, this 1924 Alco-Schenectady 2-8-2 Mikado was later sold to Elk River Coal & Lumber as their #10 and eventually donated to the emerging Huntington Heritage Museum in 1963. A note on the back states "On display at the old B&O station known as Heritage Village". While at Huntington, it was preserved and renumbered as B&O 4559, in honor of a loco that used to serve the town. Original specs - 50" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 202,000 lb, tractive effort of 41,469 lb. Edward H. Weber photo
