On the way with the new partner |

The trailing unit of the lite power move rolls between the signals, a merger partner CP unit taking the rear position. Of these diesels, this is the second visit(at least) of NS 8068, which I caught on an empty AEPX train earlier in the week. |

Another breakfast trip |
Description: |
I had sent down to a local place for bagels, and was on my way to pick them up. As I passed Lake Frances Rd, I saw this train on the crossing. A little hustle, and making the one traffic light on the way, and I was able to catch him at the team track just south of Lincoln Av. Hess approaching some MOW equipment on the spur there as he heads north with 100 empty sand hoppers. |

Subway run |
Description: |
I went out to Subway to pick up a couple samswiches for us. As I came past Lake Frances Dr, I saw the DPU of a northbound hanging over the crossing. Must be a meet imminent. That train was not in a good position for a shot, but as I came up over the US 412 overpass, I saw a southbound coal train on the Lincoln Av crossing.I swung around onto US 412 west, and stopped on the bridge. We see the AEPX coal train passing the northbound Q train, which has held the main. |

Later that day |
Description: |
After a Subway meatball marinara, I heard a horn, announcing a northbound. I went up into town, getting ahead of the train as it approached Lincoln Av on the siding. Must be a meet. Well, there was to be one, but the southbound particiipant wasnt making good progress, so the meet was moved to Gentry. Here we see the northbound waiting in the siding while the dispatcher decides what to do. |

Lucky catch |
Description: |
We were coming back from yet another trip to Wal Mart-theres a Neighborhood Market on the west end of town-and I saw a train under the US 412 overpass, which looked like a northbound coal train in the siding. As I was taking note of that, I saw a UP unit slowly heading south. OK, a meet, probably easing up to the signal while the northbound clears the plant. I swung down to Lake Frances Rd, hoping to beat the southbound to the crossing. The railfan gods smiled on me, and I got to the crossing just as the gates came down. |

The afternoon view at Lake Frances Rd is not the most photogenic. Theres some clutter, which restricts the angles, thus limiting the possibilities. The morning shot from the other side is more amenable. But, you have to work with what you have. This wider view is more appealing, but Id still like it better if there was more train. |

The sandwich shop, not rapid transit. I was on my way to pick up a Subwy Club for my wife, and saw this guy sitting just south of the Lake Frances Rd crossing, waiting on a meet. Still there when I was headed home, so I let it go, which my wife appreciated!! |

Were headed to Georgia in a few days for a wedding, so it was time to prep the RV for the trip. One of the things to be done is sanitize the water system, which involves a bleach mixture that is run through the system, then flushed. I take the RV out for a 30 minute or so ride around town to get the bleach in all the nooks and crannies. While I was out, this northbound H train showed up with 114 cars. I caught him at Davidson Rd under some towering clouds. |

I have long found it interesting how long it takes for a signal to drop once the head end has passed. I get that it depends where the insulated joint is, but sometimes it takes a few cars to get there. When I lived in the Southern Tier of NY, the Conrail line there still had semaphores. That was fun to watch. |

We were coming back from bingo(I turned 65 in May, its mandatory) and saw a coal train sitting on the Main St overpass, so came around to Lincoln St to see if there was a shot. There was, even in the last fading light, of an emtpy TXUX train waiting on a southbound. We kicked around for about 20 minutes, hoping to see the meet, but decided to go on home, as the light was going fast. Still got this shot of five units, nicely arranged with two BNSF, two KCS, one red CP on 125 cars |

Coal train DPU |
Description: |
Actually the power that led on the way to Texas. The road power generally stays on in the position it was in when loaded, though sometimes the empty trains will have the power moved up front northbound. The original road power looks good splicing the signals at CP North Siloam Springs as it leaves the siding. |

Meet by chance |
Description: |
I was home, and heard a horn, along with the sound of working engines. Northbound, I thought, and took off. When I got to town, I didnt see the northbound-not uncommon, they sometimes take a few minutes to get up the hill from Watts. I was going up to Tahlequah St, as I was thinking there might be a meet, since I heard a horn to the north as well. I dont normally beat the southbounds to town, they get there too fast for me to get ahead of them. So it was with some surprise I saw the headlight of this train up beyond Country Club Rd. A southbound grain move rolls through the signals at Tahlequah St behind a now common mix of power. |

Dirty rodent |
Description: |
Going away shot of the DPU, which appears to need a trip through the wash bay; that beaver is getting pretty ratty. |
