The two box cars are Grand Trunk 28479 and Maine Central 8050. It looks like an apprentice telegrapher is standing in the doorway... Estimated date is 1890. Photographer unknown.. /DL

Train 776
Title:  Train 776
Description:  On the back of the photo: - Train 78 Engine 200 at Winslow’s Mills, Summer 1910 (then) More likely 776 Sunday. - L.W. Moody Collection. Parts of the Moody collection came up for auction a few years ago. Lots of interesting material on Maine Railroading. Winslow’s Mill is located on the Rockland Branch just west of Waldoboro near the State Rt 32 Xing according to my map. Today this trackage is owned by the State of Maine and in the 2010 to 2015 time frame was operated by the Maine Eastern (aka Morristown & Erie). The Central Maine & Quebec is set to take over operation of the branch in early 2016. MEC #200, origionally from #156 in 1900 came from Schnacatady builder number 4227 built in November 1894 and wrecked in November of 1920. An MEC Class L 4-4-0, cyl 19x24 with 69inch drivers. /DL

MEC 249
Title:  MEC 249
Description:  Back in the days when taking a photograph was an event!!! 60lb rail? Is that a '94' hanging in front of the head lamp?? Train 94 must be a freight as it isn't in any of my Passenger time tables for the pre-WWI teens. The car behind the tender looks like a freight load... /DL

Maine Central 249 was built by Baldwin in August 1897 as a Vulclain compound for the Rumford Falls & Buckfield RR as #3, became Rumford Falls and Rangeley Lakes 2nd #3 later in 1897, coverted to simple in September 1903 and became Portland & Rumford Falls #54, became MEC 249 in 1907, scrapped in June 1916.

1st train across the Carlton Bridge
Title:  1st train across the Carlton Bridge
Description:  Built in the late 20s the Carlton Bridge put the ferrys out of work. US Rt1 is overhead. As I understand it the State was a big player in building the bridge, but maintenance was left to the RR. The signal at the right of the locomotive shows up in the next photo at the extreme right of the frame. Looking east, the station is behind the camera across the tracks. /DL

Looking west from the Carlton Bridge Approach
Title:  Looking west from the Carlton Bridge Approach
Description:  I place this photo in the mid 1930 to late 1930s. The camera is looking west with the Carlton Bridge just behind this scene. Looks like a track scale is on the left. If the camera panned in that direction we’d see The Bath Iron Works. I wonder what ships were on the ways... ? /DL

Eastbound
Title:  Eastbound
Description:  C1935. The date is an estimate. Here is an eastbound freight on the Rockland Branch at Wiscasset. If I’m reading the perspective properly this scene is taken from the WW&F bridge just south of the 2 footer’s crossing with the MEC. 12 cars and a caboose a nice consist. I would certainly have enjoyed standing beside the photographer who took this scene. No baggage or combination car. 2 reefers behind the power. The origional is not clear enough to make out the locomotive type or number. /DL
