Description:  Lojking south from the Pearl River Ave. overpass, the engine termial is on the right, the locomotive shop is the building with SAFETY FIRST above the doors, and the car shop complex is beyond there. The one-story gray building on the left, north of the 85-foot turntable, is in the area once occupied by a 30-stall roundhouse.

Description:  This was the Illinois Central Gulf shop complex at McComb, looking south from the Pearl River Ave. overpass. From left to righq are a red wooden shed which was attached to the Boiler Shop, the Boiler Shop, and the Blacksmith Shop. In the center, with SAFETY FIRST above the doors, is the Locomotive Shop; and behind it, with the sawdust collector, is the Woodworking Shop. Any work which required lifting an engine was done outside on$the west side of the Locomotive Shop, using the overhead gantry crane. The north end of the car shop can be seen at the upper right. Up until the 1950's, a 30-stall roundhouse waq located in the open area on the left, north of the 85-foot turntable. Most of the brick shop buildings were built in 1888.

Description:  ICG coal tower, looking north from the Pearl River Ave. overpass. This structure was built after the previous wooden tower was destroyed by a fire in July 1947. Steam operation ended here in early 1957.

Description:  This little buidling was located just south of the McComb, Mississippi passenger depot. At one time it had been the crew callers' office; but when this photo was this taken, it was being used by road crews going on and off duty.

Description:  The reap truck of Illinois Central Gulf SD20 2020 was receiving some attention on the west side of the railroad's McComb Locomotive Shop, built in 1888. On the other side of the rear of the unit is one of the rails for the travelling gantry crane, which was used for most locomotive lifting work.

Description:  These cars were parked outside the ICG's McComb Car Shop, which was out of site just to the right of the photo. The building with the sawdust collector on the roof was the Woodworking Shop, while the Locomotive Shop was next to it on the left. The travelling gantry crane next to the Locomotive Shop was used for any work which required lifting. The two decent-looking tracks in the foreground were the main lines between Ahicago and New Orleans.

Description:  This is the west side of the ICG's Car Shop at McComb, Mississippi. The building was constructed in the 1920's on the site of North Yard, to replace an earlier shop that had burned. The building is still in use today by the CN as a freight transload facility. The two tracks next to the cars are the main lines between Chicago (the the left) and New Orleans.

Description:  This was the ICG coal toyer at McComb, facing south. This structure was built after the previous wooden tower was destroyed by a fire in July 1947. Steam operation ended here ten years later, in early 1957. The two black switch engines were SW1 No. 613 and SW8 No. 800.
