Here is page two of a 15-page cover article by Frederick Westing entitled "This Is The Story Of A Pacific ~ The World's Greatest." It was published originally in the August 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 45. All of the locomotives pictured here are PRR Class K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" that were built in Juniata. On The Left: #3731 was built in 1920 and retired in August of 1952. Second From Left: #3681 was built in 1918 and retired in October of 1950. Third & Fourth From Left: Both are of #5495, which was built in 1928 and retired in April of 1956. Incidentally, the builder's plate depicted at the top of the page belongs to engine #5495.

Here is the Association of American Railroads' stock photo #575. Caption On Reverse: "Group of 'Pennsy' steam locomotives." Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3743, #3885, #6915, #3727, and #5385. Engine #3743 is a K-4S built in Juniata in March of 1920 and retired in November of 1948. #3885 is a K-4S built in Altoona in September of 1923 and retired in March of 1954. Engine #6915 is an M-1 built by Baldwin in November of 1926 and retired in April of 1956. #3727 is a K-4S built in Juniata in February of 1920 and retired in August of 1956. PRR 5439, K-4S, c. 1956
Description:
Wood. Here is an image of a photo by Don Wood that was taken near Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, c. 1956. Wood's Caption: "Bay Head Jct. afforded many opportunities for shooting the unusual. Case in point: K-4's 5439 and 3750 flank passenger 'Shark' 5783." #5439 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in April of 1958. #3750 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" constructed in Juniata as number "3750" in March of 1920, renumbered "1737" in 1956, and presently on display as number "3750" at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. And #5783 is a BP-20 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in November of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in November of 1964. William E. Burket Collection.

Partially visible on the right is PRR engine #460, an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata during August of 1914; it's the "Lindbergh Locomotive."

In 1923, PRR 3750 pulled US President Warren Harding's funeral train. PRR 3750 is one of two surviving K4s steam locomotives, both of which were designated "The Official Steam Locomotives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania" in 1987.

"Pennsy At Northumberland," Page 71, 2004
Description:
Here is page six of a six-page article by William D. Volkmer entitled "The Pennsy At Northumberland: 1964-1968." It was published originally in the January 2004 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 71. Photo Caption: "A March 1965 afternoon finds Baldwin "Sharknose" RF16 9595 and K4s Pacific 3750 outside the Northumberland roundhouse. The K4 carries the identity of sister 1737, the prototype K4 which was scrapped in the 1950s. Returned to her true number, 3750 is today at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania." Engine #3750 was built in Juniata during March of 1920 and was in active service at least until August of 1957.
