Description:  HOLLY. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train at HOLLY Block in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, in July of 1960. Shown here is PRR engine #8100, a BS-12 built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1954 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. It is pulling a four-car mixed-cargo freight train on the Bedford Secondary Track, and has just entered HOLLY Block on its way to the Wye Switches and the Altoona Yards. Hollidaysburg's historic "Chimney Rocks" are visible in the distance!

Description:  Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad rolling stock in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 28 September 1963. Shown here is PRR #470008, an F-29 heavy-duty flat car. It is sitting near the Yard Master's office, at the very eastern end of South Juniata Street. Also partially visible are the ancient Water Tower (last vestage of the "Age of Steam") and two Diesel switchers: #9131 and #8100. Both switchers were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #9131 is a BS-10A built in 1948 and rated at 1,000 horsepower. #8100 is a BS-12 built in 1954 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. Hollidaysburg's famous "Chimney Rocks" are also visible in the distance!

This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Filfs of Davenport, Iowa (819-18).

Description:  Wye Switches. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pznnsylvania Railroad train at the Wye Switches in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, on 1 August 1962. Shown here is PRR engine #8735, a BS-12M built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in September of 1952, rated at 1,200 horsepower, and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. It is pushing a single loaded hopper car (#674134) from Hollidaysburg to Altoona. Note the railroader standing on top, acting as a lookout!

Description:  E&M. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 August 1963. Shown here is a view to the right of the trusty turntable. Visible are dozens of locomotives in various states of repair: from work almost finished to being cannibalized. Many makes and models are represented. Visible in the foreground is what is left of PRR engine #7071, an EFS-17M built by EMD in 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. Directly beyond it is PRR engine #8987, a BS-12 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1951 and rated at 1,200 horsepower.
