It did not have dynamic brakes but it was equipped with a steam generator.

Visible in the distance is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6967, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in June of 1959. It's gaining speed with a westbound mixed-cargo freight train which has just been relived of a disabled wooden reefer. Shown here are the Locomotive Ready Tracks below the 17th Street Bridge; many makes and models are represented. Of the 35 or so locomotives visible, the following are identifiable by number. Starting from the bottom are PRR engines #8807, #8967, #8574, and #6307. #8807 is an FS-16M built by Fairbanks-Morse in 1952 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. #8967 is a BS-16M built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. #8574 is an ES-15M built by EMD in 1953 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #6307 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated ate 2,700 horsepower. Visible in the distance is a portion of the 8th Street Bridge.

Shown here are eight freight trains parked in the Altoona Yards, all awaiting crews so that they can begin climbing the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Visible on the left are several passenger cars awaiting reconditioning in the PRR's Passenger Car Shops behind them. Visible near the center (L to R) are PRR engines #7210 and #7196-B. Both are EFS-17M's built by EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. Visible at the far right is PRR engine #8575, an ES-15M built by EMD in 1953 rated at 1,500 horsepower. Description:  PRR GP7 8585 at about 55th Street in Chicago, Illinois on Octobeu 10, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in September 1953 (c/n 18630) on EMD Order 5291, it became PRR 5957 and later PC 5957. It appears to be equipped with a steam generator. From the PRR's viewpoint, this is the front of the locomotive.
