Hin Lap Yard |
Description: |
Overview of the sorting yard for cement cars at Hin Lap, 144.29km. [90.1 mi.] from Bangkok. The little station here has long been closed to passenger service and serves the SRT crews who work the cement trains here. We accessed the area from Pha Sadet on local roads, which in the last kilometer before Hin Lap shared a stretch of right of way with the quarry lead {To a railfan's thought, "This is getting good!" comes to mind..}". Manned guard shacks were at each end of the shared ROW, as it is we seem to have startled the guard on our end who seemed to not expect any traffic -he anxiously waved us through and within seconds of clearing the shared ROW and second guard a cut of cement hoppers came rolling past us! We were then shortly through the mountain Gap which forms Hin Lap's false summit to find this view here.. |

Another view of Hin Lap..the locomotive is a model CK5, built in 1995 by Ziyang Locomotive of China. This model is so far unique to Thailand's TPI Cement. A branch line extends from here about 2 miles 'round the backside of the ridge to the main cement quarry loadout. |

Looking very much like a modern Alco RS would have appeared, TPI CK5 33003 quietly sits in Hin Lap's yard. Minutes later she came to life and started moving cars about. |

Description: |
Front view of TPI CK5 33003. These locomotives work for Thailand Poline Cement industries and is one of the few private railroad operators in all of Thailand. I was 'all over' this loco getting photos as it quietly sat here, then within minutes of going over to the station, the engine came to life and commenced switching. |
