PRR 5411, K-4S, 1937 |
Description: |
Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Morris Park, New York, on 24 July 1937. In the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5411, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific' built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during February of 1927 and retired in February of 1955. In this context, it's serving on the Long Island Rail Road. Partially visible behind it is LIRR engine #104, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Lima Locomotive Works as PRR number "7732" in July of 1915, then sold to the LIRR and renumbered "104" in June of 1928. Lima S-160 |
Description: |
This steam engine was one of the last 2-8-0s built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1945. It was built for the army and originally numbered 5187 in WWII, then renumbered 607 in 1952. Known to the army as the S160 series engine many were sent to Europe in the months proceeding Normandy, in which they were called the S160 class by British Railways. In May 1972 the 607 arrived at the museum under its own power; however a lot of internal work must be done to get it running now. |

Pennsylvania Railroad H10s |
Description: |
A merchandise freight heads east under the footbridge in Trenton pulled by what H10s 2-8-0 Consolidation is likely bound to Jersey City. The H8, H9 and H10s Consolidations were visibly indistinguishable. H10s appear to have been built by both Altoona and Lima. These were used on light freight and were delivered between 1907 and 1916, lasting all the way until 1957. The number on this engines appears to be 7621, but could be 7624. |
