We were coming back from a short shopping trip in town, and heard a train blowing for the crossings. As we crossed over the tracks on US 412, I could see the signal lit red at the south end of the siding. Hmmm....he's still in the block. We swung around onto Lincoln and headed north, the train still on the crossing, moving very slowly. We beat him up to Davidson Rd, where he was taking a red signal, and talking to the dispatcher. I got a hide and seen shot of the head end behind a great climbing tree. |

We were en route to Cleveland mid October, and made a point of seeing some things on the way. One of them, a long time bucket list item, was to see Frank Lloyd Wrights Dana Thomas house in Springfield. It happens, the home is adjacent to the ex Alton Route now used by Amtrak Lincoln Service. As were were looking for a place to park, train 303 was making his stop there. I was able to get a quick shot off before we went on the tour. |

Every so often, Amtrak updates its equipment. Since I dont live near any Amtrak lines-Im about equal distance from Little Rock and Kansas City-I dont get to see the "new" stuff often. That, and my 64 year old mind still thinks of Amfleet, and even Heritage cars. So seeing the cars now running on Amtrak midwest is a treat. This car was on train 305 at Springfield. |
