De-activated semaphores and signal tower still stand at the west end of Ballarat Station in Victoria. A historical sign adjacent to the tower states that the elaborate track gates were installed in 1885 and remained manualy operated until 2001. They now automatically rotate to block traffic on Lydiard Street when trains approach. |
