Looking at the New River from the train  Contributor's Pick!
This is one of the most unusual pictures I ever took. We're traveling back, west, towards Huntington, and I thought, "why not grab a picture of the mountains and river?", which are two of my favorite subjects! By the way, the view isn't really at Hawk's Nest but it's somewhere east of it. I don't remember the location, as we're on the south track of the CSX, former C&O mainline. So, I pointed the camera towards the window and here we are. I thought the New River looked a little full or high for October, and the trees were definitely not as colorful as in most other Octobers. By this time, generally, the hillsides are blazing with brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow, with a few evergreens hanging in their own struggle to survive. Anyway, this is to me a favorite picture. I hope you like it too.
