SRT 30220 Nomenclature
Using 30220 as the background and with the generous help of Ms. Sarnt, I have put together this [hopefully] informative photo of SRT's boxcar nomenclature..by no means complete! #1: Brake, set/release #2. "Secure doors before movement" #3. Car Class and number: The thai script akin to 'u.n.y.' is an abbreviation with a fair equivalent of: 'Bogie, Carry, Large' . Underneath the number is the English equivalent; B. -Bogie, C. -Covered, G. -Goods. #4. Load Capy. in KG. -@90,000lbs. This information varies, it seems some cars have empty weight and loaded weight scripted on same panel, others, as seen here, one listing for each end. The latter seems to be more common. Next to the capy information is a 'bar' with pertinent service data. Again, this data bar seems to vary in placement from car to car. #5. Empty/Loaded Weight limits. This detail was taken from the next car coupled to 30220. It illustrates the placement if both types of data are scripted on one panel. On the 30220, this panel will show only the Lt. Wt. for this car; at 16,000KG @ 40,000lbs.
