Constructed in 1925 by Bethlehem Steel Company, this coach was originally used for luxury service on the CNJ's famed Blue Comet passenger train between Jersey City and Atlantic City. Named Westphal, this coach lasted in Blue Comet service until 1941. Later used for regular commuter service over the CNJ's lines out of Jersey City Terminal and later Newark Penn Station after the 1967 Aldene Plan. Currently owned by the URHS of NJ, this coach is one of six Blue Comet cars still in existance today and one of three from this famous train on the URHS roster. |
