This is not really rail related, but the building is so attractive I had to put it in. This is the Greyhound station on Chenango St in Binghamton. Im not sure of the date it was built, but some time in the 1940s would make sense, though I could see it as a 1930s structure. In 2003 it was still in daily service, with not only Greyhound, but Shortline(by then a subsidiary of Coach America) buses as well. Shortlines territory was mostly in the NY Metro area and the Southern Tier, and they ran schedules from here to Port Authority and Long Island, as well as Corning, Olean, and Jamestown. The early morning sun lights up the building on a June morning. |
