Down by the station  Contributor's Pick!
Early in the morning. The DLW station in Binghamton has had one of the more successful post railroad careers for a station cast off by its owners. When I first saw it, in 1978, it was still in use by Conrail, and the famous newsstand was still open. Conrail eventually moved to an office in a building on Court St, with crew functions moving to the old Erie freight house. The building was sold several times over the years. It is presently in use by several firms, though ten years after I left the area, Im not sure who any more. In 2003, when this was taken, I recall there was some kind of design company there. They renovated the interior for their use, and made repairs so the building was sound. The last train left here almost 34 years prior to the date of this photo, Jan 6, 1970.
