New Orleans Public Service car 933 was at the outer end of the CANAL-CEMETERIES car line and just beginning its trip back to the Mississippi River as it turned from West End Boulevard onto City Park Avenue. Greenwood Cemetery is off to the right and Metairie Cemetery is in the right background. The New Basin Canal had been right behind the Acme Marble & Granite building at 101 City Park Avenue - on the other side of the street car - and had been recently filled in. The track here was abandoned on 20 August 1951, when the end of the line was moved to Canal Street at City Park Avenue. (approximate date of photo) |
