CBQ 5633
At Douglas, WY we had to get off of I25 in order to head north to Bill. We made a quick stop in Douglas and visited their railroad museum which displays CBQ 5633. CBQ 5633 is a 4-8-4 Class 05-A "Northern" Type Locomotive which was built for the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad by Baldwin Locomotive Works in the early 1930s. The Class 05-A proved very successful for the CBQ on both passenger and freight service, and a total of thirty six were hosted on the roster by 1940 (Seven of which were built by Baldwin, the remainder by the CBQ themselves). Out of these 36, only two of these remain. The other is on display in Sheridan, WY. CBQ 5633 was donated to the city of Douglas after its retirement in the early 1950s.
