SLSF 2-8-0 #984 - St Louis - San Francisco         
This loco has the distinction of being one of the longest surviving class 970 2-8-0 Consolidation having served until being scrapped in June of 1951. Most in the class were hit by the scrapper's torch in the late 1940's. Built by Baldinw in 1906 (serial #29797), it served for nearly 45 years. Specs - 55" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x28" cylinders, engine weight of 181,500 lb, tractive effort of 38,160 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo
