LIRR MU #1001 - Long Island RR |
Description: |
Some conflicts in researching the origin of this car but it appears to have been built by American Car & Foundry in 1905 as a class MP-41, the first class of electric MU's to serve LIRR. It had a 41 foot interior. Later models had modified headlights when compared to this one. Date and location are approximate. No photographer was listed for this early photo. Could possibly be a builder photo. |

LIRR MU #1632 |
Description: |
This is an excellent example of a 1913 American Car & Foundry built MU for the Long Island RR with a seat capacity of 86. No photogrpaher was listed for this photo. Date and location are approximate but with Tim Darnell's help, this photo probably dates to a historic renovation for the LIRR Bicentennial trips around the system and may have been taken at the Morris Park Shops area.
