NJT 1319 IS NEW TO RRPA |
| Description: |
NJ Transit Arrow III No. 1319 "Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Tribute . Herald affixed ti the left front side of this car. Heritage Built by General Electric in 1977, Arrow III No.1319 is a self propelled electric multiple unit railcar . During the late 1970's NJ Dept.of Transportation was preaprin to rehabilitate the Lackawanna's legacy overhead cateanry system to provide an improved service on its subsidized routes. NJDOT's plan was to retire the former 3,000 volt DC system in favor of a standardized 25,000 volt alternating current pwoer supply. Aroow II and III cars similar to No 1319 were needed to repalce thwe former Lackawanna MU cars like MU 2454. NJ Transit in the early part of September 2024, applied this herald to No.1319 to recognize the "last run" of Lackawanna multiple unit cars in 1984. The ERIE logo on the long hood of NJT 4210, History/heritage of NJT 4210. This engine was repainted by NJ Transit in October 2023, of teh ERrie's Balck and Yellwo paint scheme.. The Erie had a presence in northern NJ and is one of NJ Transit's predecessor railroads.. The 4210 was built by EMD in 1968 for the Pen Central RR and to be used in freight service. After the collapse of the Penn Central, this engine was passed to Conrail in 1976 before going to NJ Transit. This locmotive can be sen operasting on NJ Transit's Morristown, Montclair-Boonton, Main, Bergen, Pascack Valley and Atlantic City Lines.
