Album Info:While there was little industry here in later years, it was still a busy place. EL, Pennsy and B&F all crossed at JO Tower. Here is a look at how downtown looks today. 3 new.

Westbound from JO Tower.

Description:  Pennsy's track 103, then B&O and finally EL all intersected between this signal bridge and East Market St. bridge. When Conrail abandoned Akron, CSX was realigned to it's present configuration. Quaker Square is visible in the background.

Description:  B&O passengers could enter from either she right or left, use the covered crosswalk and then descend the stairs to the platform. The buildings are owned by the University of Akron.

Description:  A little peek-a-boo action. The day after I photographed here, the Transportation Center had a bomb scare. FBI and bomb squad practicing due diligence, closed every street in the area. Essentially South Akron was in lockdown. Turned out to be nothing more than a headphone wire sticking out of a suitcase.

Description:  Both lights came on and went off at the same time. The westbound signal had it's upper left light flashing white. Why would they do that? The Transportation Center can be seen to the right. The area to the right would have included the EL yard.
