This Baldwin built 2-8-2 locomotive was a class Q-3 and originally carried the number 4531 but in 1957, it was renumbered BO 330. Sadly the loco was retired and scrapped a year later in August of 1958 at Newark, NJ. Specs - serial #49467, class Q-3, 64" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 292,000 lb, tractive effrort of 53,800 lb. Bob Rathke was the original photographer and this print appears in several webpages. |

Good looking example of the 1915 Baldwin 2-8-2 Mikado built for the Fort Worth & Denver Railway. This is an example of the first Mikado class, E-4A1. Specs - 64" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 273,125 lb, tractive effort of 66,640 lb. With the exception of #401, all 9 in the class were scrapped between 1955-60. Thanks to Brock Jones (see comment below) for helping correct some information on the page, #401 was sold for scrap in May of 1955. #410 was renumbered T&P 400 and ended up as a static display in Marshall, TX. Unknown photographer. |

MILW 2-8-2 #419 - Milwaukee Road |
Description: |
The fireman peers out from his window while the local was stopped in the Milwaukke Yard. Unfortunately after this photo was taken, the loco only has a few more months of service before it is retired.Built built Baldwin in September of 1922 as MILW 8319, the loco was later renumbered in June of 1938 to MILW 419. The loco was retired and scrapped in November of 1954 after 32 years of service. Specs - class L-2b, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |

With only a few months left in servce before it's scrapped, this 2-8-2 Mikado is still working the rails around the Elgin, IL, yard. Built by Baldwin in September of 1922 as MILW 8321, it was renumbered in June of 1938 to MILW 421. The loco faced retirement and scrapping in September of 1954 after 32 years of service.
